Feeding Program Thursday 1 March 2018

The World Bank has defined school feeding programs as “targeted social safety nets that provide both educational and health benefits to the most vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrollment rates, reducing absenteeism, and improving food security at the household level”.

That is why, Dorcas/Tabitha and Mary’s Meals school feeding program continues to reach the most vulnerable children in Lebanon and Syria where the school meals contain a healthy sandwich and a piece of fruit or vegetable to each student.

Some studies have highlighted that fruits and vegetables are rich in a wide variety of vitamins and minerals that help in the child development and increase their performance at school.

Through their work in both Lebanon and Syria, Tabitha for Relief and Development – Lebanon and Dorcas Relief and Development – Syria are eager to reach the most vulnerable communities and help in supporting children attending school in order to strengthen their resilience and coping mechanism and help them in shaping a better future.
